Learn to use the NRP
General trainings for anyone who wants to use the platform, from your first login to running your own JupyterHub. They run as a series of live sessions on Zoom, and every session is recorded. The next series is announced on the mailing list.
Two places to learn
Which one you want depends on how you came to the NRP. If a colleague, instructor, or event organizer sent you a training link, you are probably looking for the second.
General trainings

Open to everyone, scheduled by the NRP team as a series, and covering the platform end to end: access and the portal, Docker and Kubernetes, JupyterHub and Coder, and using models and agents. Sessions are live on Zoom and the recordings stay up, so you can work through a series on your own.
Directed trainings
training.nrp-nautilus.io
Arranged for a particular group or event, such as a conference tutorial or a course. Each has its own lessons that open directly in a JupyterHub environment, so participants run real workloads on shared GPUs without any setup. New trainings are added there as they are scheduled.
February 2026 series
Two tracks, each taught twice, so you could pick the week that suited you. Every session ran 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Pacific on Zoom, with hands-on exercises on the NRP’s own JupyterHub and Coder.

Beginner track
Wed Feb 11 or Wed Feb 18
- Introduction to the National Research Platform
- The NRP’s mission and capabilities, how to get access, and the usage policies.
- The portal: GUI access to resources
- Navigating the portal, managing namespaces and groups, and the integrated LiteLLM interface.
- Basic and intermediate Docker and Kubernetes
- Containers and orchestration: Pods, Deployments, PVCs, and S3 storage, and scripting with kubectl.
Intermediate track
Thu Feb 12 or Fri Feb 20
- Using JupyterHub
- Launching interactive environments, suited to researchers, students, and educators.
- Using Coder
- Interactive environments with full code-server (VS Code) support.
- Deploying JupyterHub
- Deploying and managing JupyterHub and Coder for a group or a course.
September 2025 series
Nine sessions over five Tuesdays, from the introduction to custom images and VMs. Sessions started at 10:00 AM Pacific (1:00 PM Eastern), with a second at 11:00 AM Pacific on most days. The last columns show who each one was pitched at.
